Lets be a little bold ......

Before we test the waters on how bold we have been, lets back track to Monday. The post on the weekend left it open as to who would be gracing us with their presence on Monday. Well, it was a cast of thousands ( seemed like it anyway).

A van pulled up in the driveway and out came Bob the Carpenter (no, he is a carpenter, not what you are thinking!) and his mate (no, not Scoop) and they spent the day doing architraves and skirting around the family room, windows in the stairway, hung doors for the study (Brendan's room), the lounge room and worked on the robes upstairs.
Peter and Phil were here, Peter early as usual and they worked on pulling down the scaffolding and then completing the eaves. It has made a big difference.
The plasterers made an appearance and they worked on patching up holes, sheeting and plastering inside the store room under the stairs and generally flinging plaster all over the place.

Today saw a tribe of people here. Wayne was on site early, followed by Peter and Phil. They immediately started on finishing the eaves as the painters were not far behind them. One of the painters introducing himself to Brendan by going into his room and turning his light on so that he could get changed. I'm not sure who was more surprised, the painter when Brendan put his sleepy head up and went 'huh?' or Brendan woken by a strange Chinese man grinning at him. We just thought it was funny ...

Anyway, the above photo is after today and the ground floor has been painted, as well as the rest of the ground floor.
While this was going on, Peter and Phil continued to work on the scaffolding coming down along with another worker on site, John who was also giving the veranda another coat of water proofing. The house now looks so much different with the scaffolding down.

Now, so what is so bold about the work? Well, keen readers will remember that we mentioned that the painters had not painted the gable blue when they were working a couple of weeks ago. Today, they painted the gable blue. The gable is a bit of a feature so we wanted to put a little colour into it, now remember that this colour is also going to be used on the veranda post, posts at the entry, front door and the posts around the alfresco area. Drum roll please ......
The kids hate it, Chief and Deputy like it. From another angle showing also the scaffolding gone.
MMmm, wonder what the rest of the viewers think, have to have a little bit of boldness in it? Don't you??
Anyway, as you can see from the photos, the house is really starting to take shape, removing the scaffolding has made a huge difference in being able to see the lines and how it is going to look finished. We expect the work to continue hard, now the scaffolding is down, render the brick work, garage door, drainage, new entry ....

And, hopefully, the kitchen bench top tomorrow!
